Palm Deira Access Bridge (Temporary Access), UAE

ESC have been awarded the Protective Coating and Fabrication of Corner pile for the Project Palm Deira Access Bridge (Temporary Access) in Dubai, UAE by the Belhasa Six Construct LLC. A project of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) which is considered the biggest development project undertaken in Deira.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will open a bridge to provide an important link in what will become Dubai’s new waterfront, Deira Islands Project, It comprises four man-made islands inside the Arabian Gulf waters along the stretch of Deira Beach spanning an area of about 17 million square meters.

The project undertaken by RTA, in conjunction with local developers, included the construction of a temporary entrance to Deira Islands and the opening of the Water Canal for navigation. The project also included opening the navigational lane beneath the bridge by removing some two million cubic meters of sand in three landfill areas.

Works also included extending the existing canal walls up to the new fish market marina, in addition to lighting works, sewage, asphalt, shifting and protecting the existing services, and extending services along the bridges. The bridges will connect Deira Island Front with mainland Deira between the mouth of Dubai Creek and Port Hamriya, Deira via Abu Baker al Siddique Road, and between Abu Hail Road and Omar Bin Khattab Road.

 

Following the opening of the bridge, the project contractor will remove the last landfill area, and complete work to open the navigational canal.

The project, which is considered the biggest development project undertaken in Deira, encompasses the construction of hundreds of hotels, hotel apartments, multi-purpose buildings and marinas.

The project is expected to be inhabited by 250,000 persons and provide employment for 80,000 employees.

Every attention has been made to provide direct and seamless entrances through flyovers constructed at all the entrances of the project.

ESC Scope:

Protective Coating and Fabrication of Corner pile.

 

The Surface preparation and coating application for sheet piles are based on International Blasting and Painting Standards. ESC used steel grit and steel shots as abrasive materials and Jotun Paints with two pack surface tolerant high build epoxy.

The application is in two coats with total final DFT 500 microns and with high durability of more than 15 years which comply with classification system defined in ISO 12944.
